Three Basic Skin Care Techniques For Teenagers

Most teens are known to be extremely conscious about their skin and appearance. Sadly this is an age when there is an onset of puberty and resultantly often the skin is more prone to acne and blemishes. This often demotivates teens and makes them feel inferior.

In order to combat these issues it is detrimental to follow a proper Skin Care routine which involves the basic cleaning, toning and moisturizing techniques. At times the teen may need to opt for additional spot treatment as well.

Skin Care Techniques for Teenagers

Here we share some details about the three simple steps to get a healthy and glowing skin.

1.    Cleansing : Cleansing your face at regular intervals is very important. This will not allow the dirt and grime to collect. It will also clear the face of the excessive oil. But while cleansing, remember to use a cleanser which includes a substantial amount of amino acids as they enhance the reproduction of new cells and also make your skin more moist and supple. If you are always on the move then it is handy to carry clearing towelettes which will help you to have a radiating skin even while outdoors.

2.    Moisturize : The teen years are marked by drastic changes in the hormones and hence it is ideal to use a moisturizer which is oil free.

3.    Spot Cures : Control the urge to squeeze the pimple as it will only spread the infection. Rather use an anti blemish cream or product which will reduce the inflammation and also get rid of the spots.

If the problem still persists then do not hesitate to seek medical assistance.

Causes and Cures For Dry Skin

Dry Skin occurs most frequently in areas which are most exposed such as the arms and lower legs. The intensity of the issue may vary depending on the age, health factor, climatic condition and daily routine. Often people feel their skin has become tight and dry post showering or going for a swim. The skin seems lusterless and without any moisture. The texture too becomes rough and at times it may be coupled with severe itching. Xerosis (dry skin) may also trigger severe flaking of the skin and cracked skin. There may be a sudden spurt in the occurrence of bleeding and painful fissures.

Causes of Dry Skin :

The causes of dry skin vary and most of it stems from environmental factors. The fluctuating temperature is one culprit. This issue is triggered as we tend to move about in extremely hot or cold weather and when we step indoors we immediately turn on the heating system or the air conditioner. This sudden change deprives our skin of its humidity and makes it dry.

The peak summer and winter months too take a toll on your skin as during these months the humidity level is not very high. Showering with very hot water may ease your body of the exertion but it will eventually break the lipid barrier of the skin and make it dry. Chlorinated water too makes the skin dry.
Excessive use of deodorants and antibacterial soaps too dry your skin. At times some internal conditions like hypothyroidism too may cause the skin to become rough and dry. If your body looses a lot of fluid after a bout of illness, then too the impact will have to be borne by your skin.
Excessive intake of alcohol and caffeine also makes the skin dry.

Ways to Tend to The Skin

If you suffer from dry skin then tackle the problem by using a good moisturizer. You can also opt for baby oil which has the tendency to last longer.

Avoid taking hot water showers as they will make your skin dry. Use shower gels which contain added moisturizers lest your skin becomes more dry. Use a mild cleanser to clean the skin pores and in case you opt for soaps then ensure that they have essential oils to keep your skin hydrated. Use a non alcoholic deodorant as deodorants having alcohol too tends to make the skin dry.

If the condition still persists then do not hesitate to seek professional help.
